Breast Eczema Tips
Breast eczema usually presents as a red itchy rash which is dry and scaly on the breast. The most common site on the breast is usually at the sides and under the breasts. The rash may be moist when situated under the breasts, as sweat mixes with the dry scales of breast eczema.
I would especially like to draw attention to the fact that a woman should never assume that the rash which is on her breast is breast eczema. This is because, a rash on the nipples may be a sign of pagets disease a very severe form of breast cancer. However, I would like to go further and say that if you discover a rash any where on your breasts which does not quickly clear up; do not assume that is breast eczema.
The rash on your breast can be caused by a mumber of skin conditions such as psoriasis and fungal skin infection, especially in big breasted women. I would advise any woman who sees a rash on her breast that is not clearing up quickly to go to the doctor and get a full breast examination. This is because sometimes the first sign of brest cancer can be a change in the skin which may resemble a rash.
If your doctor has given you the all clear with respect to breast cancer when you see your rash, and diagnoses eczema or another skin condition, then follow the advce of your doctor with respect to treatment. If it is indeed breast eczema, then the usual approaches to treating eczema may help.Try to find out what the cause is and avoid this. Also make sure that dry areas are well moisturised.Usually with breast eczema, skin irritation is a common cause. This may be related to the material the bra is made from or other products used on the skin. It is also important to maintain good hygiene, especially if the breast are large. excessive sweat around the breast especially in the area where the bra rest, may become irritated and breast eczema may develop. It is best to wear cotton bras which tend to irritate the skin less. If the skin is dry a natural moisturiser such as Extra virgin coconut oil is helpful .
